Kerbstone Making Machines and Molds for Road and Housing Projects
Concrete kerbstones define road edges, footpaths, medians,
parking areas and landscaped spaces. They are heavier and larger than many
pavers, so the production plan must consider mold volume, concrete feed,
compaction, pallet support and safe handling.
A paver or block machine can manufacture kerbstones when its
pallet area, product-height range and mold arrangement are suitable. The buyer
should provide the exact project drawing before mold fabrication.
Product
specification
Kerbstones vary by road authority, housing scheme and
application. State the finished length, width, height, slope, chamfer, drainage
feature and concrete strength requirement. Also confirm tolerance, surface
finish and whether reinforcement is required.
Do not rely on a photograph for fabrication approval. Use a
dimensioned drawing and, where possible, an approved physical sample.
Mold
and machine
A kerbstone mold may produce one or several pieces per cycle
depending on size. The machine needs enough feed volume and compaction energy
for the product. Ask for a cycle estimate based specifically on the selected
kerb.

discussion. Mold walls, tamper profile and clearance must be manufactured
accurately because a small error becomes visible along a long installed kerb
line.
Concrete
mix
Use well-graded aggregates that can fill corners without
excessive paste. Maximum aggregate size must suit narrow mold sections. Water
should be controlled for immediate demolding while still supporting hydration
and density.
Where a colored or fine face is needed, consider a separate
face-mix process. For normal road kerbs, focus on strength, edge durability and
dimensional stability.
Handling
heavy green products
Fresh kerbstones can crack if the pallet bends or if workers
lift them too early. Use flat pallets and smooth conveyor transfer. Plan
mechanical handling for cured products to reduce worker injury.
Stacking patterns should prevent point loads on corners.
Protect finished edges during transport and use suitable straps or separators.
Curing
Kerbstones have a large section and need controlled moisture
retention. Establish a curing duration and method based on cement, weather and
required test age. Keep early products protected from direct sun and wind.
Quality
checks
Inspect length, width, height, straightness, edge condition
and surface defects. Arrange compressive or flexural testing according to the
applicable project specification. Keep batch and test records for government or
large contractor supplies.
Production
planning
Because kerbstones use more concrete per piece, mixer and
machine feed must be balanced. Calculate cement and aggregate consumption per
kerb, then include pallet use, labor, curing, handling and transport in
costing.
